If you wish to make items up yourself Thomas Ferguson's fabrics are available by the metre.
This is Ferguson's famous, and unique, linen double damask (Ref. 975), available here in our Chrsanthemum design.
This Chrysanthemum design basically is 2 Chrysanthemum bands running down each side of the fabric. This allows tablecloths to be cut off in any length required, and then simply stitched across each end.
Double damask is different from ordinary damask (Ref. 875) in that it has a lower warp thread count than weft thread count. To achieve a high quality fabric using this method the weft must be beat up tight. To allow the dense packing of the weft yarn a finer yarn is used, as well as a looser twill weave than in ordinary damask. This allows more fine weft yarns to be beat up in the weaving process. Achieving a higher thread count fabric, and a finer fabric.
