Reproduction Titanic Irish Linen for the Centenary
April, 2012 will be the RMS Titanic centenary. As the ship was built in Belfast, only 25 miles away from Banbridge where Thomas Ferguson weave their linens, they would like to mark this centenary in some lasting way.
On board that great ship on its first voyage were 6000 Irish linen damask tablecloths, and 45,000 Irish linen damask table napkins. As Thomas Ferguson are now the only Irish linen damask weaver they have decided to reproduce as near as possible these linens which were used on that first voyage.
To be as near to the original as possible Thomas Ferguson has been licensed to use the White Star Line logo. From previous dealings with the original weaver Thomas Ferguson understands the table linen design used on the Titanic table linen to be an old industry design known as the “Adam” design; no doubt named after the designer and architect Robert Adam.
A design image of a proposed napkin is shown.
Over the next few months Thomas Ferguson will be designing and weaving the reproduction table linen, both napkins and table cloths. Anyone wishing to register an interest in ordering these reproduction Irish linen damask linens should please email here. This will allow Thomas Ferguson to gauge the level of interest in the special design, and give a better idea of the volumes required. At this early stage there appears to be significant interest.

Thomas Ferguson launches new online wholesale warehouse
Thomas Ferguson this week has lauched a new online wholesale area on our website.
After registering trade customers, who wish to sell Irish linen in the retail market, are very welcome to sign up to buy Thomas Ferguson Irish linen at wholesale prices.
The Thomas Ferguson Wholesale site is designed mainly for retailers with high street, mail order or internet businesses. The products available are mainly stock retail items. Customers from the hospitality or interior design industry, or those who require bespoke items, should contact us direct so that you can discuss your custom requirements with a member of our team.
We do not generally offer wholesale prices to businesses in unrelated trades who wish to buy small quantities for gifts, or for their own use. Simply being in business does not qualify a customer for wholesale prices. If in doubt please discuss with our sales staff. Thomas Ferguson will offer discounts to business customers, from unrelated businesses, who wish to purchase significant or bulk quantities of linens for one–off promotions or gifts.
Currently there is no minimum order for wholesale customers ordering online, however we do require new customers first or opening order to be in excess of £300 (US $500). The no minimum then applies to all repeat orders - please remember however, shipping costs are disproportionately expensive for smaller sized orders. Shipping costs reduce significantly as a proportion of the total cost as the order size increases.
'The Corbet Lough Column'
A piece of sculpture was recently erected at Corbett Lough near Banbridge.Commissioned by Mourne Heritage Trust, the sculpture, by Jason Mulligan ARBS, was inspired in part by the contribution of the linen industry to the local Banbridge economy.Thomas Ferguson helped in our own small way with some of the background, relating to linen. For a larger image click here.
